Preschool Ministry Director


Hours: FT 40/week

The Preschool Ministry Director provides leadership and direction over the development and implementation of programs for preschool children, infants – 4K. This will be accomplished through the coordination of Sunday morning programs and special events. The director must have a passion for the spiritual development of children, a gracious spirit and a commitment to serving and helping others while leading staff and volunteer teams. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develop and implement the vision and strategic initiative for the preschool ministry.
  1. Oversee logistics of all services on Sunday to include lesson preparation, registration and check-in, classroom activities, volunteer oversite, communication with parents and families, engaging with children, Infant/Toddler Worship, Preschool Worship, etc.
  1. Build relationships with preschoolers and families through ministering and providing assistance as needed.
  1. Recruit, equip, schedule, and empower volunteer preschool ministry team leaders.
  1. Plan and execute special events to include but not limited to the following: Vacation Bible School, Fall Kick-Off/Promotions, Family Missions Event (Love Local), Christmas Events, Baby Dedications, etc.
  1. Direct and oversee curriculum implementation; teach classroom lessons and lead worship as needed.
  1. Create and maintain a safe and welcoming environment for preschoolers and their families ensuring areas are free of hazards.
  1. Maintain clean and organized rooms, storage areas, and work spaces in children’s areas.
  1. Develop and maintain child safety and security procedures.
  1. Administer and update Planning Center database within ministry area.
  1. Direct Preschool Ministry Coordinator, Childcare Coordinator and interns.
  1. Partner with Mom Co. (formerly known as MOPS) to engage in evangelistic outreach.
  1. Additional Responsibilities:

-Develop and manage the annual preschool ministry budget to align with ministry goals

-Communicate pertinent information to staff, volunteers, and parents in a timely manner

-Perform other tasks as assigned

The Preschool Ministry Director reports to the Assoc. Pastor of Discipleship.

The Preschool Ministry Director supervises the Preschool Ministry Coordinator and the Childcare Coordinator.

  • Passionate about connecting with adult volunteers and children
  • Shows enthusiasm and high energy in connecting with preschoolers
  • Ability to effectively communicate scripture
  • Self­motivated leader with a strong work ethic; team-player attitude
  • Shows respect and good working relationships with other staff members
  • Possesses a Bachelor’s Degree (theological/ministry education preferred)

Must be willing to work Sundays and some holidays (Christmas Eve, Easter, etc.)
