Care & Prayer Minister


Full Time 40 hours/week

We seek a competent and compassionate Care &  Prayer Minister to join our team and play a vital role in supporting our congregation’s spiritual, relational, and  emotional well-being.  

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Care & Prayer Minister will work alongside and report to the Associate Pastor of Care. This individual will be  part of the Care & Prayer Team and provide hands-on pastoral care and offer instruction in the care classes while  supporting our growing congregation’s care needs. This role is crucial in fostering meaningful relationships,  offering guidance and encouragement, and demonstrating God’s love and truth to those in need. Prayer is central to  our mission. The Care & Prayer Minister will also cultivate a culture of prayer through the development of diverse  prayer initiatives, equipping and empowering others to prayer, and fostering a sense of unity and purpose through  prayer.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

● Provide pastoral care: Visit and offer direct support to individuals and families facing challenges, including  illness, grief, loss, and other life transitions. This type of care includes but isn’t limited to the following: hospital  visits, shut-in visits, one-on-one pastoral guidance, and other care needs as assessed.  

● Develop and lead care & prayer teams: Recruit and equip care team volunteers to assist with providing care to  those in need. This includes but isn’t limited to the following: hospital visits, shut-in visits, one-on-one care, and  assisting with the provision of other care needs as specific needs are determined. Oversee the recruitment and  coaching of prayer leaders across all prayer initiatives (prayer services, intercessory prayer teams, prayer groups,  inner healing prayer).  

● Offer spiritual guidance: Lead care classes, facilitate small groups designed for care needs, assist with overseeing  care programs, and other opportunities for spiritual growth and reflection. 

● Oversee prayer initiatives: Oversee and cultivate existing prayer ministries to include oversight of monthly and  weekly prayer services, intercessory prayer teams, prayer groups, and inner healing prayer. Identify new prayer  initiatives as needed. 

● Promote a culture of prayer: cultivate a vibrant prayer atmosphere through the development of training sessions on prayer, mentoring prayer group leaders, organizing prayer interventions, and the provision of resources for individual and group prayer.

● Supervise prayer staff member: Provide supervisory support and oversight through the development of new  prayer initiatives, continuous evaluation and refinement of current prayer initiatives, assisting with the development  of the annual prayer budget, etc.  

● Conduct weddings, funerals, and baptisms: Officiate at life cycle events and provide spiritual support during  these significant moments.  

● Collaborate with staff and volunteers: Work closely with the Associate Pastor of Care, care & prayer teams,  and other staff and volunteers to ensure the seamless delivery of care and prayer ministries while respecting the  privacy and confidentiality of all individuals and families served.  

QUALIFICATIONS & ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS: 

● Master of Divinity (MDiv), Master of Pastoral Counseling, or equivalent degree from an  accredited university, seminary, or theological institution. 

● Minimum of 2 years of experience in pastoral care, counseling, or a related field. 

● Displays a compassionate and empathetic nature.  

● Exhibits deep passion for leading others in prayer.  

● Maintains confidentiality and respects privacy of all individuals and families. 

● Ability to create engaging and meaningful prayer experiences.  

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills.  

● Exhibits excellent organizational and time management skills.  

● Works effectively both independently and collaboratively.  

● Committed to the mission and values of the Church at LifePark.  

Must be willing to work Sundays and some holidays (Christmas Eve, Easter, etc.)
