DINNER FOR THE HOMELESS
Every night up to 100 homeless or marginally homeless people gather in downtown Charleston, just off Meeting Street for a hot dinner. A variety of churches in the area volunteer to provide these dinner each night of the week, every week of the month. For many homeless, this is the only meal they will eat for the day.
LifePark has adopted the 3rd Thursday as well as every 5th Thursday of the month to participate in this ministry of compassion and care. Beginning at 5:00 p.m., LifePark prepares and serves a hot fried chicken dinner with all the southern fixin’s! It has become a favorite night of the month among those who are homeless.
LifeGroups are encouraged to sign up for a night of service where you will help prepare and then serve the food. Most often we also get the opportunity to eat and mingle with those who are homeless during the meal. A short service is held with music and a message about God’s love and the power of the redeeming Gospel.
