A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LIFEPARK VOLUNTEER
- Arrive in your area – 15 minutes prior to service start time (KP123 or KP45)
- Greet kids as they arrive
- Interact with them (ask about their week; last week’s message; etc)
- Use ‘ice breaking’ resources provided in your supply bin
- Encourage kids through interaction
- Kids and leaders will gather in the KP123 room
- Sit with your small group and supervise them
- Don’t hesitate to manage behavior
Good ways to encourage appropriate behavior:
- Eye Contact
- Tap on shoulder
- Position yourself next to or behind the child
- Move the child to another spot
Participate in Worship – SING! DANCE! CLAP!
- Do the motions (have fun worshipping God!)
- Sing out! The words are on the screen!
- Look at the kids while you worship and encourage their participation
- Show kids how to praise God – they will follow your example.
- Remind kids to stand
Participate in the Lesson
- Model active listening
- Engage with the teacher; encourage the kids to do the same
- Following Large Group time, return your group to your area
- Be familiar with the small group material beforehand (emailed each week for your review)
- You will lead the kids into a deeper understanding of the lesson taught in Large Group
- Small Groups are where ‘discipleship’ begins; use your time to teach, but also use it to get to know your kids and allow them to know each other
- Praise and encourage the children for interacting/participating
- Pray with and for your kids
- Stay with your group until all have been picked up by parents/guardians
- Let KidsPark staff know of any significant issues
