BABY DEDICATION FAQ

To have your baby dedicated at The Church at LifePark:

• We ask that one of the child’s parents have a personal relationship Jesus Christ who is actively living the Christian life.
• We ask that participating parents have an understanding of the basic beliefs of The Church at LifePark.
• We ask parents to be regular attenders of LifePark’s weekend services.
• We ask parents who are living together and who are not married to take steps to acknowledge and surrender to God’s plan for their relationship before participating in a child dedication service.
• We are open to having conversations with you on any of the above statements. If you are interested, contact Noah Reid, Associate Pastor.

What is baby dedication?

It is public declaration of parents, before the church congregation, stating that they desire to nurture their child in the ways of Jesus Christ. Baby dedications are an acknowledgement that it is the parents’ responsibility first to share the Gospel with a child and secondly, it is a declaration of the church to support the parents and the child in their growth as Christians.

What baby dedication is not.

A baby dedication is not a baptism or a symbol of a child’s sins being washed away. It is a solemn and serious commitment made by parents to share the Gospel with their child and as the Lord leads to guide their child into a personal relationship with Christ in the future. At LifePark, we ascribe to the doctrine of Believer’s baptism and see baptism as a public declaration of a person who has put his or her faith in Christ, which happens as a child or adult comes to the knowledge of his or her need for a Savior.

What is the age limit?

The child must be 2 years old or younger.

When are baby dedications?

Baby Dedications are typically held in the months of June and November.

How do I register to have my baby dedicated?

Please contact our Preschool Ministry Director, Kelley Shaw.

Email Address: kelley.shaw@lifeparkmp.org

What are the requirements?

Register online and attend a mandatory meeting with our Associate Pastor, Noah Reid, prior to our baby dedication service.

Do I have to be a member?

You do not need to be a member of The Church at LifePark to have your child dedicated. However, we do encourage parents to make sure they are calling LifePark their home church and attend the LifePark Connect classes to ensure you agree with LifePark’s beliefs and values.

In what service do baby dedications take place?

We provide the opportunity to have your child dedicated in all three services, 8:30, 10:00 and 11:30! Baby dedications typically take place after the first song. After the dedication is over, parents are free to keep their child in the service or take them to Noah’s Park, our Preschool Ministry.

Can a single parent participate in Baby Dedications?

Yes! Child dedication signifies the commitment of parents (including single parents) to do their best to raise their child to be a follower of Jesus Christ. We do encourage single parents to discuss baby dedication with the child’s other parent. Ideally, both parents – even if not married – would still commit to the dedication of their child to God. We acknowledge that this is often not possible, and that it takes extra effort for a single parent to raise a child. As a church, we are committed to supporting single parents in providing a Christian foundation for their child’s upbringing.

Who should participate or be invited?

Baby Dedications are a wonderful public commitment made by parents and the church family for the good of a child. It is a time for the baby and the family to be celebrated and encouraged. We encourage families to invite any and all family and friends who would like to participate. We reserve seats in the front of the worship center for immediate family and we invite all to participate in the worship services.

What should my child wear?

There is no assigned attire, so dress your little one up in whatever way you believe suits the moment.

Baptism

Baptism is a public testimony of what Christ has done in your life as a Christ-follower. It is a symbolic picture of death, burial and resurrection, and new life as well as your commitment to Christ and to His church. No matter what your age or background, baptism is a natural and important step in your journey as a Christ-follower.
