Next Generation Director


FT- 40 hrs/wk

The Next Generation Director is responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership for Next Generation Ministries and family discipleship for preschoolers, children, students, and parents at The Church at LifePark.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop and manage a unified vision and strategy for the Next Generation Ministries (50%)

  • Oversee, coach, encourage and provide leadership development for all the Next Generation ministry directors and team.
  • Provide supervision to directors and all next generation teams holding them accountable to alignment of vision, curriculum emphases, priorities, the management of conflict, calendars, and budgets.
  • Create a clear discipleship pathway (curriculum) that starts at birth and continues through college. 
  • Coordinate with next gen ministry directors to implement a cohesive milestone program including, not limited to:  baby and parent dedication, salvation, baptism, and senior commissioning. 
  • Develop and implement a strategy that includes workshops, classes, events (ie Family Discipleship Conference) to equip parents in discipling their children.
  • Maintain a regular presence in all Next Generation ministries (team meetings, programming) to evaluate the quality of ministry being maintained across Next Generation ministry areas and to ensure consistency of programming.
  • Support the next gen teams in the planning, leading, and execution of major next generation events and trips (VBS, trips, retreats). Evaluate the success of these events through conducting post-action reviews and make enhancements as needed. 

Recruit, onboard, and develop volunteer leaders within Next Generation Ministries (30%)

  • Oversee and partner with family ministry directors to effectively recruit volunteers for various ministry positions. 
  • Design and implement a communications strategy for raising awareness of volunteer needs within Next Generation ministries. 
  • Personally engage with new members in the Connect Class (membership class) to help get them connected to serving opportunities within Next Generation ministries. 
  • Design onboarding processes for Next Generation ministry volunteers and conduct initial high-level training. Equip Next Gen ministry teams with implementing ongoing volunteer training programs.

Oversee College Ministries and Summer College Internships (10%)

  • Design and implement a discipleship process for college students that is right-sized for the church’s needs. 
  • Work with LifePark staff to design a summer internship program, balancing the needs of the ministry director with the development of the intern. 
  • Provide spiritual guidance and practical mentorship to summer interns regarding living a faith-based life after college. 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local colleges and universities for the purpose of promoting internships and residency opportunities.

Additional Responsibilities (10%)

  • Represent and give input from the Next Generation team to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Be available for pastoral care to families
  • Teach periodically on a rotating basis in Next Generation ministries
  • Assist in hiring of Next Gen team members as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS & ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Educational background in Christian education or Christian leadership preferred.  
  • Proven track-record of effective team-building, solving problems, personal. discipleship/shepherding, and strategic planning.
  • Proven experience in supervising multiple staff members and leading a staff team.
  • Demonstrates a growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus. 
  • Passionate about equipping parents to be the primary disciplers of their children.
  • Passionate about reaching college students with the gospel.
  • Knowledge and insight on next generation and family ministry trends.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic; teachable spirit; team-player attitude.

This position oversees the following positions: Preschool Ministry Director, Children’s Ministry Director, and Student Ministry Director. This position reports to the Associate Pastor of Discipleship. 

Must be willing to work Sundays, holidays (Christmas Eve and Easter) and occasional evenings.
