SERVING IN BALTIMORE: DAY 4
The Church at LifePark is partnered with The Church of the Harbor to spread the gospel in the largely unchurched community of Essex, Maryland. The mission trip is both challenging and life-changing. The Church of the Harbor consistently serves their neighbors through mission projects, feeding hungry and inviting people to church.
LifePark members Matt Pinto, Marianne Caldwell, Jeff Schrupp and Roanna Miller are serving on the latest mission trip. Jeff Schrupp sent us this update from Day 4 of the Spring 2019 mission trip to Baltimore:
What a wonderful and blessed four days in Baltimore. As you’ve read from Roanna, Matt and Marianne we had an amazing trip. Lots of doors knocked on, lots of invites provide and lots of gospel presentations given. We go to honor God and be a blessing to the community of Essex, the Church of the Harbor and our wonderful church partners, Jeff, Wes, Tyler and their beautiful families, but it is we who return truly blessed.
As our trip wrapped up, we celebrated Palm Sunday with the Church of the Harbor and Jeff’s message on the Sermon on the Mount. This has been a 12-week series in which he completed by covering the second half of Matthew 7. This had special meaning to me as he started with verse 13:
“Enter through the narrow gate.”
Those who know me, know that 13 and 14 are two of my favorite verses. They help keep me humble and focused on what truly matters.
There are two moments in particular that stood out to me on this trip. First is a family (husband, wife and child) that showed up for both the cookout, as well as the service on Sunday. They weren’t from a door I knocked on myself, but from a door knocked on by this team. They appreciated the invite, the cookout and were looking to get connected. My prayer is that they find it in the Lord and the community offered by the Church of the Harbor.
This is why we go.
Second is the team itself. I’ve had the privilege of being on two Baltimore mission teams, and both were wonderful. Like the first, this team bonded quickly. The team meetings leading up to the trip were amazing. The camaraderie of this team was instant and we grew as a family overnight. I am so blessed to have been on this trip with such wonderful and loving people. I’d like to thank each of them for making this trip so special. Roanna Miller, Matt Pinto and Marianne Caldwell, you will always be a part of me, and my life is better because of you. Thank you so very much. May God bless each of you as you have blessed me.
